Many people jump-start their day with a cup of joe. Coffee is undeniably the preferred beverage of many, especially those who need the caffeine boost to function. It has certainly gone a long way since people drank it either black or with milk, sugar, and/or creamer.
These days, coffee drinkers are more cosmopolitan, trying different ways to enjoy their cup. They’ve curiously tried the Greek or Vietnamese style of preparing it. They’ve sampled all sorts of exotic beans. Definitely, many willingly fell in with the concept of designer coffee and now happily indulge in the luxury.
Worthwhile Coffee Trends
Coffee has become more than a drink. It can now be a fashionable item that serves as a status symbol. It can now also be a very special gourmet experience.
Innovations with coffee keep on being introduced. Some are clearly nothing more than temporary fads, but others are ingenious enough to linger and establish themselves in different cultures.
What are some of the coffee trends that have left a strong impression on people’s consciousness?
1. Cold Brew Coffee
This is obviously not a favorite in cold places, but in warmer climates, drinkers of black coffee certainly love the richer taste. Definitely, cold brew coffee is not for the impatient since it takes an entire day to prepare.
How is cold brew coffee prepared? It basically involves steeping ground coffee in cold filtered water for 24 hours. If you demand a very rich and bold flavor in your coffee, the wait is worth it. Cold brew coffee is pretty strong, so much so that many jokingly claim that it can grow hair on your chest.
2. Latte Art
It’s amazing what forms of beauty creative people can come up with. Art on your morning cup of coffee is certainly a delight. It pertains to a method of pouring microfoam into an espresso shot, which results in a design on the latte’s surface. You can also “draw” on it for even more embellishment.
This is definitely more than a fad. It’s possible that not many will ask for art on their latte, but it’s always a delight when they get it. The fad has stuck not only because it’s fun, but because it also presents new challenges to baristas. There are competitions on latte art and the creations that participants produce are amazing.
3. Healthy Coffee
Drinking coffee is often discouraged as people get older and develop health issues. It’s always agony for a lifelong coffee drinker to be told to stop the habit. This is one reason why many have endeavored to come up with healthy coffee alternatives or make coffee itself healthier.
From mushrooms to moringa, nutrient-rich coffee products abound these days. One offering that has truly intrigued many is bulletproof coffee. It is a healthy kind of coffee concoction that includes butter and oil.
At first, it may sound decadent, but it involves excellent coffee beans, grass-fed butter or ghee, and coconut-based brain octane oil. These ingredients come together to present a delicious creamy coffee that offers a range of health benefits, including peak performance and weight loss. You can drink your bulletproof coffee and head straight to your gym equipment at home. It won’t be counterintuitive.
4. Coffee Cocktail
People have been adding alcohol to their coffee since time immemorial. The Espresso Martini has been around for a long time, but coffee aficionados continue to find ways to infuse coffee into their booze and vice versa.
Teetotalers use soda water and lemon to come up with a coffee mocktail referred to as Sparkling Coffee. It has quite a following as well, but people aren’t as attached to soda water as they are to alcohol, so it will have to stand the test of time. Coffee Cocktails, on the other hand, are clearly here to stay, as evidenced by the Espresso Martini.
Fun with Coffee
There are more layers to coffee than you can imagine. Inventive people will continue to come up with ideas to give the public a better or, at least, a different coffee experience. Coffee is beloved enough that there is sure to be a market for more innovations to come.
